I haven´t even been in Cancun for 24 hours, and I already went bug hunting.

No luck with big-game bugs, except for some nice orbweavers. i also saw a bunch of isopods and what i think was a lobster roach....

but there were PLENTY of these guys to hand around. they are LIGHTNING quick..... and i was only able to catch one because it ran from a wood pile onto the wall of a biulding. i had to chase it a good 20 feet along th wall, and it was going higher and higher.

luckily, i caught up, and i had one of my small containers available. i brought it back to the resort im at, and took pics. then i released the little feller. what do you guys think it is?

i hope the pics show up.....

i didnt actually even notice the patterns of bumps and nodes, until i looked at the pictures! this camera is awesome!

in daylgiht, it all looks that solid color, but in the camera its easy to make out all the bumps and patterns!

also......i did go blacklighting in the same area.....and no luck.

i have to actually go out of town and into the more remote areas of cancun, and delve into the jungles to find anything.......

unfortunately, its not worth the risk of being alone in a foreign area.......gosh i wish this was bolivia.

I'm just wondering something. If you were to want to bring that thing back to the US, you'd need permits, right? How much do the laws vary in various Central American countries regarding that?

So, when I googled the species that Jeremy (tokays) said it was......I got a bunch of geckos that don't look anything like this.

Is it because this is a different morph?

Is this little guy even available in the states???

Geckos are so freakin cool!!!

It looks like a Hemidactylus but I do not know the species but Google "Mexican Geckos" and see what you come up with and also try "The Gecko Association"(might be different but you should still get a hit) they have pics of geckos from around the world.

If they only occur in Mexico then they will probably not be available in the states unless somebody cultured them before the ban or they were poached.
