ok one another thing guys DESDERT SPECIES

i have done this trick with Androctonus species and no others yet
BUT if you use it with a desert species you should take
them out and place them in a dry warm area about half and hour
to an hour after they molt and are walikng around ok
to keep from any problems with micosys or anything of that sort

hopefully all this info will be of some use to you all if ever needed.

thanks..

Thanks for this Wayne. I will put this in our "Important Scorpion Info" thread so that we can all refer to it later if we need to. It will also be easy to find in the event we need to link it to someone's question

thanx telow for this. ive bin searching lots off sites for this kind of info. i got 17 baby emps that i was not expecting and i dont no a thing about raising babys. but i think ive found the right place. before i read this the baby emps had already molted and had left the mums back so i removed them into a new home together in an 12" by 8" tank. so should i use smaller house or/and house them seperate ? also i have not seen any of them eat is this normal or not ? and how long after they first molt do they harden into a brown/black colour ? and if there is any think else you think i should no please let me no because i want to try do my best for my first lot of scorplings.

THANX.

i would spertate them for a while as with most scorpion young,
because the early instars can be a bit cannibalistic ?

as for the coloring i doont remember off hand how long emps take to darken up.

but if they left the mom on there own they should be hardened up good,

and i would keep them semi damp and if you feed them crickets try to take off the back legs,
so the babies dont have a hard time catching there food

but besides that stuff you should be alright.

good luck and congrats.

Good info man! You say it works ok for desert species too, just so long as you allow them a dry place for a while after they molt? How long did you keep desert species in this setup until you moved them on to a less humid environment?
