WOW! She must've thought your tweezers were an intruder into her private space. As for the Google thing I don't really know what do say about it. I'll have a look for you on other search engines and see what they have.

EDIT: I think I've found what you're looking for! http://home.freeuk.n...e-caresheet.htm If you want I could look for more later. Hope this helps!

that is an ok care sheet. good work finding it, Widow :)

these are definitely crabby spiders.

throw some various sized and shaped pieces of twigs and debris in there and the spider might use them to make a door.

the care sheet says highly venomous, but i thought that the venom strength was unknown. in situations like that, it is always better to treat is as deadly venomous until you find out otherwise

pretty little things

Thank you for the comments and I agree with you on everything you said. I find them really interesting! I never knew that they came in the color red until some time ago when I first heard about them on another insect forum I'm a member of.

I've had trouble keeping this species alive, they get big and like to bite, so be careful.

Really? Why did you have trouble keeping the species alive? Was it because they bite?

I know we do have a species of trapdoor spider found in California. I used to find the burrows periodically and I used to live in So. Cal. I think they were a dark brown or black but I never saw them out of the burrow. Just the door and them lurking.
